Floods in Indonesia have killed at least 44 people and injured nine, and rescue operations are under way in the region

At least 44 people have been killed in flash floods in Indonesia’s eastern province of Nusa Tangara.
According to a statement issued by the National Disaster Management Department (NDD), the city of Flores in the province was flooded at 11 a.m. local time due to heavy rains.
Rescue teams have so far recovered 20 bodies and rescued nine injured while the search for five missing persons continues.
According to the statement, hundreds of houses have been affected by the floods and rescue teams are continuing operations.
Authorities also warned of heavy rains in Achaea, Sumatra, Central Java, the capital Jakarta and Yogyakarta.
